Problems

Landfills

A landfill is a big hole in the ground where most of the trash ends up. These dumps are ugly, smelly and the biggest McDonald's for birds in the world. We bury trash into the ground, hoping that it will decompose, but it won't. At this rate, we will always be walking above trash.

Degraded Land

Degraded Land is land that has lost its natural productivity. It is caused by extreme weather and human activity that degrades soils or land. Some threats are: water sources dry up, food production is reduced, diseases, and poor hygiene.

Carbon Dioxide Involvement

The carbon cycle is a naturual cycle that occurs every day. It helps keep the balance between carbon dioxide and other gases in the air. It also helps trees grow. However, too much carbon dioxide in the air which can be caused by burning trees and factory smoke etc, can cause trees to die out. Slowly killing whole forests.

Livestock

When people want hamburgers, they need cows, and when they need cows, they get cows. Cows and other animals need grass to feed on. They eat acre after acre of land. This is a problem beacuse we need land for crops as well. Now, we are cutting down trees about 3 times the amount we would be cutting down if we were all vegan.

The Increasing Population

The world's population is growing rapidly. This means, we need more land to build infrastructures and farms for meat. There won't be enough space for everyone in the future.

Crops and Food

Beacuse our population is growing, we also need more space for food. This takes  up so much land that we have to clear more trees. However, the people who clear the land don't reuse the materials that are cut down. They just throw it away.
